The theme for this 7 Days of Prayer & Fasting is “Stir Up One Another.” Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
There needs to be an intentional increase of encouraging one another, meeting together, and stirring up one another to love and good works as everyday moves closer to Jesus’ return. The theme for 2021 at The Nations is being a church on the move, which we’ve defined as being a church that has its mindset on missions, multiplication, and discipleship through small groups. That is why we will begin our first week of prayer and fasting this year to fast, pray, and “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.”
Beginning tomorrow, Monday, February 15th we will meet together online to fast lunch and pray together at the noon hour throughout the week. The meeting will be from 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday to Friday, and we will wrap-up our week of fasting and prayer with an evening of Prayer & Praise on Saturday, February 20th at 7:00 p.m. You can sign-up here to receive the daily online meeting link and for the Prayer & Praise evening as well.
In the verse before, Hebrews 12:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” How important this word is in our current circumstances. You see, the only reason the confession wavers is because the confessor wavers. Meeting together, stirring up one another, and encouraging one another is a Biblical blueprint to help us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering. May God work these truths deeply into our hearts as we meet and pray together this week.
The title of today’s sermon was “The Church In The Bible,” and Pastor John reminded us that Jesus Christ gave us a clear template of Christian life that works across every culture and nation.
Was there anything that stood out to you in this message that we as the Church can take further into prayer this week?
What kind of change did the Holy Spirit identify as your responsibility so that we are the Church in the Bible today?
We hope to see you tomorrow at noon as we continue to hunger after God and His purposes for us. In the case that you cannot join us on specific days, please note that the devotional and prayer notes will be posted at 1:00 p.m. everyday right after the online meeting.
Also, if you are new to fasting, please feel free to look through our “Fasting Tips” located on the bottom of these past prayer and fasting notes.
God bless you and see you tomorrow!
